Pharmacist and Managing Director, Screen Clinical Ltd
Having graduated from Queen’s University Belfast, Michael qualified as a pharmacist in 1998 and worked in community pharmacy before making the move to primary care in 2007.
Michael spent the early years in general practice providing prescribing support to practices across Northern Ireland as well as developing and delivering disease-specific clinical audits. His work on implementing the findings of the National Review of Asthma Deaths report in three practices in Omagh went on to be recognised at the Northern Ireland Healthcare Awards and a project delivered in the Ards Federation was nominated for the HSJ Awards.
In 2015 Michael obtained his IP, specialising in anticoagulation and has mentored many practices in implementing the transition to, and management of patients prescribed DOACs since.
He set up Screen Clinical in 2015 with the aim of designing clinical improvement projects to help general practice in relation to increased workloads and real time reductions in investment in primary care. All projects delivered by Screen Clinical strive to help the NHS invest in health through effective and appropriate prescribing.
