Detecting and preventing medication safety incidents with insulin Insulin is a high risk drug and is frequently associated with adverse drug events. The 2012 National Diabetes inpatient audit (NADIA) identified that medication errors occurred in one third of hospital inpatients, and one in ten patient experienced severe hypoglycaemia. This session will explore insulin-related medication safety incidents aiming to highlight ways in which practitioners can promote the safe use of insulin in clinical practice.
