Biologic use in the treatment of respiratory disease is increasing with the availability of a range of monoclonal antibodies. The high cost nature of these therapies and strict NICE criteria can make the management of biologics difficult. Ensuring that they are being used appropriately and being able to demonstrate this is vital. Within the North West a Severe Asthma Network has been established to manage biologic use across the region. This session will look at the hoe the North West Severe Asthma Network manage the approval process for biologics, the barriers we have identified to patients achieving the NICE criteria and how usage can be monitored. |
