Satellite Description

Robust evidence ensures that safe, high-quality treatments and interventions are available to patients and the public. Engaging in research and evaluation also allows pharmacists and professionals working with respiratory medicines to develop their skills and expertise in leadership, collaborative working, management and training.

In this session we explore the unique role of pharmacy in research, providing answers to questions such as why research is important for pharmacy, what opportunities there are for pharmacy professionals to get involved and how to get started. The session will also offer an introduction to the process of drafting a research proposal and securing research funding.

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society supports pharmacy professionals to develop their research and evaluation skills through a range of resources and services:

·         Detailed guidance and tools: the RPS Research, Evidence and Evaluation Toolkit (REET), accessible via our Research and Evaluation Resource Hub.

·         A research project review and support service and one-to-one research advice sessions

·         A research mentoring programme

·         RPS networks for networking and collaboration

·         Research Ready, an online self-accreditation tool covering the basic requirements for community pharmacy teams undertaking primary care research in the UK.
