Satellite Description

This topic /presentation will cover the definition and the background around hypoglycaemia. It will include the process around hypoglycaemia, what risk factors there are, and what types of patients are most at risk.

Some of the content will cover (but not limited to) the new insulins which have come to market or are in the pipeline such as high strength insulins, and what are the common pitfalls with these insulins

It will also cover the management of hypoglycaemia according to national guidelines, the different signs and symptoms that can present in patients, and what monitoring is required to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia.

Finally it will cover some take home messages in terms of counselling points for patients for e.g. those who drive, and for those who inject insulin (rotating injection sites etc.)
