13:00 - 13:20 Impact of pharmacist prescribers (PIPs) on patient discharge from Emergency Admission Unit (EAU)
Claire Louise Rivett, Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NuTH)

Following recent publications service provision and the role of clinical pharmacists in providing patient care has been reviewed. This project focused on the impact of pharmacist independent prescribers (PIP) on the quality and length of time to discharge patients in an acute setting.

It was hypothesised that utilising a PIP to generate discharge prescriptions would reduce overall discharge time and prescription errors.

This presentation will discuss the project and its findings and how appropriate utilisation of skill mix within the NHS can benefit patient care and experience.
