Satellite Description | ||||
This session will outline how to recognise, assess and mange a patient with Atrial Fibrillation (AF). This will include how to identify AF on a 12-lead ECG, recognise and assess the symptoms and be able to undertake an assessment of stroke risk and bleeding risk using recognised assessment tools (CHA2DS2-VASc and HASBLED) whilst considering medication using DOACs. It will discuss the modifiable risk factors associated with AF and how to offer practical advice to patients with AF in terms of medication, managing their symptoms and treatment options using a shared decision-making process. As part of this session, we will outline two patient presentations from our rapid access AF clinic and allow participants to discuss the cases. The session aims to be practical and informative. |
