This foundation level session aims to give delegates an understanding of the key considerations in attempting to manage a change in other people’s behaviour along with an introduction to essential skills.

The session will introduce the concepts of interplay between thoughts, feelings and actions (behaviours) and the need for clearly stated descriptors of acceptable or wanted behaviours vs undesirable behaviours.

In attempting to change behaviours, success depends upon our ability to clearly describe the current behaviour and its impact before outlining an expectation in terms of changed or new (different) behaviour.

Key skills required are effective listening skills along with an understanding how to manage potential conflict while using a constructive feedback model in an attempt to change behaviour. Other skills involve self-management and understanding how to maintain composure and professional integrity by remaining in an adult ego state. Delegates will leave with a feedback tool which serves as a template to allow them to practice communications intended to change the unwanted behaviours of others and/or encourage more of the desired behaviours.
