11.10 am Homecare Contracting: 3 Ways to ‘Getting it Right' - Susan Gibert

This presentation will give you handy top tips for planning and managing homecare medicines contracts in a changing NHS landscape. It is essential for the NHS to monitor and manage homecare provider performance, underpinned by robust contractual arrangements.

During the Covid 19 pandemic, homecare medicines supply models enabled patients to access treatments out of hospital. Unprecedented numbers of patients were onboarded over a short period of time, processes were adapted to the Covid environment and many lessons were learned. Some of the resulting process changes will become the ‘new normal’ for the NHS and therefore will need to be incorporated into the next round of contracting cycles.

Proposed changes to the specialised commissioning tariff and the continued affects of COVID mean that commissioning pharmacists may find themselves changing some long accepted practices, building new systems and changing the way drugs are delivered.   This talk will give the viewpoint of a secondary care medicines management pharmacist on the experience so far and the expected upcoming challenges.
