Speakers Chris Johnson (NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Pharmacy & Prescribing Support Unit)
Satellite Description

Objectives and Anticipated learning:

  • To increase awareness and share experience of current general practice work involving psychotropic prescribing issues
  • To outline a variety of approaches which are used to enable prescribing change and highlight some of the pros and cons associated with these

The session will help inform and build on people’s knowledge regarding the role of pharmacist working in and with general practices to support people.  Appropriate psychotropic medicines prescribing and use, is just one aspect of supporting and enabling people with common mental health conditions and long-term enduring illness.   Therefore the session will highlight psychotropic prescribing issues, but will also touch on non-psychotropic prescribing issues which may need to be considered and/or addressed when providing individualised pharmaceutical care for people.
