Option 8 - Cross-sector collaboration

Workshops will be highly interactive sessions to consider the challenges, develop approaches for the future and help you 'stay ahead of the game.' Mike Pratt will lead the session but the bulk of the speaking will be done by the audience!

Michael Pratt was Chief Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy for NHS Dumfries & Galloway, a rural Health Board in Southwest Scotland from 2005, until he retired from that post in 2017. He has over 30 years experience in the NHS at a variety of levels and including Primary and Secondary Care. As Director of Pharmacy, Michael was responsible for managing pharmaceutical services in both primary care and hospital. He also carried the budgetary responsibility managing and controlling drug spend across all aspects of healthcare in Dumfries & Galloway. As part of his responsibility he managed the development of prescribing formularies as well as the managed entry of new medicines into the local health economy and their financial and service impact. Additionally, Michael had roles outwith the Health Board. He was a member of the Scottish Medicines Consortium. He also played a key role in the development and delivery of National and Regional plans, as well as local plans, on efficiency and productivity as they relate to prescribing. Michael has also had experience in general management through secondments to a number of key posts to develop a breadth of experience in health service management. He has a BSc (Hons) from Robert Gordon’s, Aberdeen. He also achieved a MBA from Henley Business School, and completed ‘Delivering the Future’, which was a very selective clinical leadership development programme organised within the NHS in Scotland.
