This session will help attendees differentiate between “difficult to treat” and “severe” asthma and understand the management of the latter. There will be a particular focus on medicines adherence, the impact of biologic therapies and multidisciplinary team working. Biography for Dr Brian Kent - Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, UK Brian Kent is a consultant respiratory and sleep physician at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals, London. He established the Guy’s Severe Asthma Centre in 2014, which has gone on to become one of the fastest growing and most dynamic severe asthma services in the UK. Research interests at the centre include the evaluation of the real world effect of novel biologic agents in patients with severe asthma, alongside the impact of anti-eosinophilic agents in patients with EGPA. Outside of asthma, Dr Kent’s research is focussed on the relationship of sleep with respiratory, cardiovascular, and metabolic disease. |
